Gujarat asks cement firms to cut prices
MUMBAI: To keep the feel-good factor going, Gujarat government has asked cement manufacturers in the state to reduce price of the commodity by Rs 10 a bag.
In other parts of the country also, manufacturers were asked to reduce prices, sources said. A bag of cement now costs Rs 10 less in Pune.
Prices have been rising since September-October. In Gujarat, prices are up by nearly Rs 30 a bag.

Demand is also not picking up. Cement manufacturers inked a pact in November last year to reduce production.
A central government minister had met a delegation of steel manufacturers and requested them to reduce prices, which were then at an all-time high.
